How to get my horse to run?

I dont know if she is to you but she will be 3 April 22 and i have got her started on barrel racing but all i can get her to do is lope around the barrels and i would like her to run them she is almost 15hh and she is a paint appy Please help any suggestion becasue i dont really like spurs but i will use a lil whip if needed
