Dxm ecstasy one day apart?

i took a relatively small dosage of dxm. . .only 10ish. good high as always. . .that was the day before new years. the day of new years i tried ecstasy for the first time (2 1/2pills) my questions are 1. why did i not really feel the high? and 2. isnt dxm based mdma basically pointless then?
